Abstract

An attempt has been made to describe the meaning and the process of the microteaching approach, which facilitates the inculcation of important teaching skills for both pre‐service and in‐service teachers. Based on a systems approach, a model of the training of both experienced and inexperienced teachers has been developed, using the essential components of microteaching. Finally, the essential factors of the competency based teacher education (CBTE) programme and the microteaching approach have been compared for the better understanding of the applications of the latter.
