Mink is emeritus University Archivist and Head, Department of Special Collections at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In 1966, Jim—then director of the UCLA Oral History Program—with program head Elizabeth I. Dixon and two parttime staff planned and staged the first National Colloquium on Oral History at the University of California's Lake Arrowhead Conference Center. An outcome of the Arrowhead colloquium, less than a year later, was incorporation of the Oral History Association. This interview with Jim Mink was conducted on 20 April 1999 by Dale E. Treleven, a past OHA president and director of the UCLA Oral History Program since early 1983.
