Abstract
AIBS governing board member James B. Ross describes himself as a materialist with a conscience. But a more accurate description of the man would be that he is a working conservationist as well as vice-president and publishing director of the Reinhold Book Corporation, one of the country's leading publishers of scientific books. Ross's conscience works overtime. In addition to serving on the board finance committee of the AIBS, the 42-year-old West Virginian is a council member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the National Advisory Council of The Nature Conservancy, which he also served as president from 1958 to 1960.
