Abstract

Playground behavior of children in Germany, Italy, and Denmark was subjected to structured observation by teams of psychologists in the respective countries, with particular reference to aggression of adults toward children and of children toward each other. Results indicate that German adults are significantly more often aggressive toward German children, and German children toward other children, than are either the Italians or the Danes. Further implications of these observations are discussed, and other applications suggested.
