Abstract

A microprocessor-based system was developed to enable on-line processing of data transferred from a photoacoustic spectrometer via a direct interface. The developed system uses the data transmission port of the spectrometer and does not require any modification of the original instrument. Data processing facilities offered by the system include calculation of parameters, graphical presentation, curve normalization and scale variation. The operator communicates with the system via a terminal, and results of calculations are displayed on its video-screen. The system is portable, of moderate cost and designed to be easily operated without any knowledge of computers or programming.
