Abstract

The main functions of an interactive consistency maintenance system called Specreviser is introduced; some techniques used in its implementation are discussed. A logical framework of the system is given. Some concepts, such as new law, user's rejection, and reconstruction of a knowledge base are defined; the related theorems are proved. The concepts of a developing process of a knowledge base and the limit of a developing process are further established. A procedure is built to generate processes from a given user's model and a knowledge base. It is proved that all processes generated by the procedure and starting with the knowledge base are convergent, their limit is the truth of the model. The work is compared with AGM's theory of belief revision.
