Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to report the work carried out to design a user friendly shell in order to help maintenance managers in small/medium plants analyze the performance and budget sensitivity to maintenance parameters using small microcomputers. The shell is to be an interface to a complete maintenance system that will be responsible for producing day to day work orders and specified maintenance tasks. It consists of a data entry module and a data processor module. The processing essentially aims to maximize the availability and reliability of the equipment being maintained and study of the spare part kits required for this purpose. The program is written in BASIC and the results of its application to an airline ground support workshop with real data collected over four years are reported.
