Abstract
The fourth industrial revolution is impacting the role of robots in industry. Robots have been around for 50 years in production processes. Since then, they have helped improve production processes in such a way that better quality products are produced at more affordable prices. with the arrival of the fourth industrial revolution, the role of robots is changing from manufacturing robots to service-oriented robots. Weather manufacturing robots have been restricted to be used in controlled and non-human contact environments, service robots its use is allowed in unknown environments and to interact with humans. From these ideas, the Cobot concept is born. Collaborative robots or Cobots are designed to work safely with humans, do not require cages and can interact with the operator. So at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana We work on the perception project for industrial robot (PIR). This sought to provide robots with perception devices to carry perform collaborative tasks. To this end, the Alqueria collection center was used as a case study. La Alqueria is responsible for separating the material that is collected manually from the mixed waste containers This project was implemented at the Technological Center for Industrial Automation (CTAI) using deeplening to detect plastic bottles and an industrial robot to grab the bottles.
