Abstract

The aim of this paper is to propose a new integrated permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive to improve performance for the whole speed range. Conventionally, in the field-weakening PMSM (or interior PMSM) drive, there are three common drawbacks, which are high copper loss, poor current transient performance, and greatly sensitive to the variation of dc-link voltage. The proposed control strategy can effectively utilize the capability of the drive. Hence, it can achieve a new high-speed operation mode that is different from that of the conventional field-weakening control strategies. Compare with conventional field-weakening PMSM drives, the proposed motor drive can achieving more wide speed operational range, lower magnitude of the stator current in the high speed region, and having more versatile selection for DC link voltage.
