Abstract

ABSTRACT This study has designed a framework for calculating structural seismic responses inside a non-instrumented building, based on dual-level hierarchical interpolation. The propagation of earthquake waves from an observation station to a target building is divided into two steps: propagation underground and inside the building. Gaussian process regression (GPR) and deconvolution seismic interferometry (DSI) are adopted, respectively, within these two steps to interpolate seismic responses in succession. The proposed framework is verified through a numerical study and a case study. Results in both cases reveal the performance of this framework to be satisfactory.
