Abstract
1. SUMMARY A 3 antenna scanning diversity system is presented which is now in series production using a very fast operating integrated FM distortion detector being highly sensitive for all kind of FM-distortions. Three active FM antennas and one AM antenna are arranged in the rear window of the car. Each FM antenna has the performance of a one m whip antenna and is designed for optimum reception of vertically, circularly and horizontally polarised waves. Although the antennas are placed in the small aperture of the rear window the correlation between the actual distortions in the received signals is very small due to the different types of antenna structures. Measurements have shown that the probability for a simultaneous interference on all closely packed screen antennas is not greater than with the same number of 5od antennas being considerably spaced apart .
