Abstract
In this paper, an integrated and compact switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive is proposed for plug-in electrical vehicle (PEV) applications with flexible charging functions. On the basis of the traditional asymmetrical half-bridge (AHB) converter, only a small number of components are introduced to realize vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charging mode and solar photovoltaic (PV) charging mode, without affecting driving operation of SRM. Under driving mode, the presented converter operates as an AHB converter without any system performance degradation. Under V2G charging mode, the developed converter acts as a bridgeless interleaved (BLIL) boost converter in series connection with a buck-boost converter. The high-efficiency charging function is achieved with power factor correction (PFC) function. The on-board charger is realized with improved power factor, which will significantly improve the power quality in the AC grid. Under PV charging mode, the phase connected with PV array acts as an interleaved boost converter, which improves the PV charging performance. By adopting the proposed SRM drive, the system becomes fairly compact with reduced system cost. The effectiveness of the proposed SRM drive is validated by the simulation in MATLAB/Simulink.
