Abstract

An efficient multi-tasking Real Time Operating System such as that defined in the ITRON specification can provide a design engineer with a means of reducing the design cycle as well as improving the performance of code written for a particular application. It is important however to acknowledge the fact that, while a good Real Time Operating System can be a real asset to a designer, its inherent complexity can lead to additional problems during the development and debug phases.
