Abstract
In this paper, a directional relaying technique is proposed for the protection of a double-circuit line. The directional relaying issues during the cross country fault, far-end fault, as well as voltage and current inversions in a double-circuit line with series compensation are addressed. Four features using positive-sequence components are selected and an integrated solution scheme is proposed using a multicriteria fuzzy decision approach. The technique is evaluated using data simulated with EMTDC/PSCAD for a double-circuit line with and without the series compensation condition, and the dynamic performance of the algorithm is studied.
