Abstract
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses an integral equation arising in diffraction theory. Many mixed boundary value problems in diffraction theory can be reduced to the solution of dual integral equations. A modified form of the analysis of Schmelter and Lewin is given and a relatively simple form for the solution is obtained. Finally, an outline of the verification of this solution is discussed in the chapter. The procedure is guided by the special case a = 0, for which the verification is much easier.
