Abstract

A standard stereozoom microscope was instrumented to measure directly areas of small circles. The zoom axis knob was replaced with a calibrated dial and a circular reticle was placed in the microscope eyepiece. This allowed selection of the “best fit” of the circular reticle to a slightly irregular precipitate and permitted measurement of area directly from the dial.
