Abstract

As an innovative tutorial, this paper conducts a comprehensive investigation into the conceptualism and methodology of large complex systems (LCS). Firstly, in the conceptualism of LCS, intrinsic attributes of LCS are identified, a human/machine unified epistemology is proposed for LCS, a taxonomy of LCS is developed, and the evolution of control synthesis from continuous-variate real-time control systems to LCS is derived. Furthermore, in the methodology of LCS, the problem of macrostructural modelization of LCS is formulated, and a description based model is proposed and established for LCS. Finally, a unified framework based analysis is presented on three typical examples of LCS to generally illustrate the conceptualism and methodology of LCS.
