Abstract

A wide range of novel technologies and an ever decreasing time-to-market are both key elements in the development of today’s vehicles. This forces automotive engineers to adapt their development tools and procedures. Recently, Ford Motor Company established a Steering System Test Machine as a modern tool for developing the steering systems of the future. Although on-road testing keeps its important place in the development process, several functionalities of the SSTM aim to shorten the needed test time by shifting it from the test phase towards the verification phase.
