Abstract

The focus of this paper is to propose an innovative method to reduce the service time of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM). Irrespective of the number of identical servers (machines) in an ATM centre, if the service time of an ATM gets reduced, then it will also have proportional reduction in queue time and queue length. Here, we intend to propose a concept of Virtual Pre-Transaction (VPT) using mobile banking for withdrawing money through ATM. Using this VPT, we can register the amount to be withdrawn from ATM even before physically moving to any ATM centre. This leads to reduction in the task to be done inside ATM cabin. As a result, there is a considerable reduction in service time and queue time as recorded in our experimental analysis.
