Abstract

The results of an infrared and Raman spectroscopic study are reported for five new metal isoquinoline tetracyanonickelate complexes, M (C9H7N)2 Ni(CN)4, M: Mn, Fe, Co, Zn and Cu. Their structure consists of polymeric layers of M-Ni(CN)4 with the isoquinoline molecules bound directly to the metal (M), similar to the structure found in Hofmann-type host complexes. The copper complex has spectral features different from the other four compounds. The results of the chemical analyses and the effective magnetic moments of the complexes are also given.
