Abstract

The use of an information-feedback procedure, called "feedback averaging," is applied to an <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">M</tex> -ary polarization-modulated laser communication system. The systems with and without feedback, which are limited by photon fluctuation, are considered and compared. A significant improvement in error rate of a system with feedback is demonstrated over a one-way system for a quarternary system subject to intensity constraint.
