Abstract

Three eelpouts, Lycodes lavalaei, with gills infested by the parasitic copepod Tanypleurus alcicornis (Caligoida: Tanypluridae) were collected on the Grand Banks off Newfoundland. As many as 42 parasites were recorded from one fish. The copepods caused extensive damage to the gill filaments. Anemia and emaciation were apparent in the infested fish.
