Abstract

A simple digital circuit was developed to sense the direction of rotation of a driveshaft. The circuit outputs a two-bit binary code defining forward, reverse, or stationary states. This sensing device was used in a machine monitoring system for forest engineering research. Hardware development and the application are described.
