Abstract

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of MB2 canals using three different methods (CBCT, clinical analysis (naked eye), and dental microscope) and to compare the efcacy of the three methods in identifying the incidence of MB2 canals in the maxillary permanent rst molars.Methodology:The study sample consisted of 20 extracted intact permanent maxillary rst molar. The access opening was done and clinical analysis is done for MB2 canal later the extracted tooth seen under microscope to locate MB2 and then subjected to CBCT. Results: By applying Chi-square test there is a signicant association between Incidence of Mesiobuccal 2 Canal in permanent maxillary rst molar and three different methods (naked eye, microscope, and CBCT) and after applying Z test of difference between two proportions of Incidence of Mesiobuccal 2 Canal is signicantly higher in method CBCT (40%) than method microscope (25%) and naked eye (15%).(p=0.0001) Conclusion: This study concluded that the incidence of MB2 canal detection was increased by the use of CBCTscans and dental microscope in comparison to naked eye.
