Abstract

Normal metal–insulator–superconductor junction-based refrigerators are described with a model which includes cooling of electron gas, coupling of electron gas and phonon system, coupling of phonon system with environment and heat produced by Cooper pair formation. The lattice temperature in normal metal electrode of the junction and the dependence of this temperature on the environmental temperature is calculated.
