Abstract

In order to improve the performances and ensure the safe commutation, an improved zero current commutation model predictive torque control (ZCC-MPTC) method is proposed for the induction motor drive system fed by indirect matrix converter (IMC-IM) in this paper. In this control method, zero voltage vectors are inserted in each sampling period to ensure zero current commutation for the bi-directional switches, and the effect caused by the zero vectors is considered and evaluated, as a result, the multiple objects optimization for the drive system can be realized completely. Simulation and experimental results show that good input/output performance of the IMC and steady-state/dynamic performances of the drive system are achieved by using the proposed control method. Compared with the conventional model predictive torque control (MPTC) method, the quality of input/output currents and the dynamic performance are improved significantly.
