Abstract
In this study we have demonstrated that the line start technique can be used with the Horiba centrifugal particle size distribution analyzer to obtain high-quality particle size and size distribution data over a range of sizes in the micrometer and submicrometer range. The line start technique yields much better accuracy and reproducibility than the uniform distribution technique previously used with this machine. Reasons for this are enumerated in the text. Equipment needed to perform the analysis of particle size with the Horiba machine using the line start technique is now available from the Horiba subsidiary located in North America.
