Abstract

Obtaining vital pressure measurements of both intramedullary and intrapulpal areas has been a technical problem. From earlier reports (R. M. LARSEN, Ann Surg 108:127-40, 1938), to date, the methods used all depended on a jam-type fit between cannula and bore. A method of cannula placement was devised, which obviated the necessity for a wedged or pressure type of union between cannula and receiver bore. A machine screw thread was placed on the cannula, and the receiver hole in bone or dentin was threaded with the corresponding tap. Cannulas were prepared as follows: (l) the beveled tips and hubs were cut from stainless steel 17-gauge Luer-Lok hypodermic needles; (2) the cannulas were placed in a collet on a bench lathe and threaded with
