Abstract

Boosting capability is considered to be a very impressive feature of a converter circuit as these converter circuits are suitable for electric vehicles, HVAC, distributed power generation as well as photovoltaic applications. This article presents an improved switched capacitor multilevel inverter (SC-MLI) topology. The proposed topology not only attains boosting feature but also has a higher number of output levels (11-Level). The SC-MLI employs only two input source, ten power electronic switches, one capacitor and one diode in its configuration. The circuit configuration, operating modes, Total harmonic distortion and modulation technique are presented in the article. The presented MLI is simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink. A comparison is also made with the recently developed configurations of MLIs on the basis of different parameters like number of switch requirement, DC sources and capacitors.
