Abstract
This paper describes a device which takes place of the classical vaporizing and ionizing filaments in surface ionization sources of mass spectrometers. Sample is deposited on the tip of a rod which is introduced through the end of a microtube ; the other end is heated and produces ionization. First results show a high brightness and a yield at least ten times better than before.
