Abstract

A better model for the α in the Soave-Redlich-Kwong equation of state is proposed. The proposed model represents a as a monotonically decreasing function of reduced temperature. Parameters for the model were obtained for 37 pure hydrocarbon and acid gas compounds by fitting the equation to experimental pure component vapor pressures from the triple to the critical point temperatures. Binary interaction parameters were evaluated for 72 binary mixtures including hydrocarbon-nonhydrocarbon and nonhydrocarbon-nonhydrocarbon systems.
