Abstract

A silver staining method is described in which dewaxed sections of decalcified teeth are impregnated in a saturated solution of silver cyanate in dilute collidine buffer, pH 7.3, and developed in a buffered hydroquinone-sulphite solution. The impregnation-development process is repeated three or four times until a satisfactory intensity of staining is obtained. Non-myelinated nerve fibres are specifically stained black in a pale yellow background.
