Abstract

Broadcast authentication is a critical security service in sensor networks, since it allows a sender to broadcast messages to multiple nodes in a secure way. To reduce some disadvantages of a broadcast authentication scheme named ShortPK, we propose an improved broadcast authentication scheme. Our scheme uses Bloom filter for the public key distribution and authentication. The performance analysis shows our scheme can not only reduce about 40% less communication energy consumption than ShortPK, and U-ShortPK consumes less total energy than ShortPK but also simplifies the process of the public key distribution.
