Abstract

This paper deals with fuel cell / battery electric vehicles energy management improvement. The proposed strategy combines rule- and frequency separation-based energy ‎management strategies key features, benefiting from each one advantages.‎ Rule-based energy management strategy has the advantage of limiting the fuel cell power in order to ‎improve its lifetime, however it does not take into account its dynamic, unlike the strategy based ‎on a frequency separation, which respect the dynamic sources, but it does not take into account ‎the limitation of the fuel cell power.‎ In this paper, we conducted a comparative study between the two strategies, where we have ‎shown the limits of each one, and then we presented our new strategy that combines the two ‎strategies.‎ For validation purposes, simulations and experiments are carried out on an electric vehicle ‎emulator. ‎A very relevant strategy is proposed based on a combination between rule-based and frequency ‎separation energy management strategy, and the simulation and experimental results show the ‎effectiveness of this strategy.‎
