Abstract

Taking the example of current transients obtained from chronoamperometric measurements on (100) n-GaAs electrodes in copper sulfate solution, it has been shown that the methods, available from the literature for analyzing the transients, are unsatisfactory when the charging current interferes with the Faradaic current. A novel procedure, correcting the current transients for the charging current by an empirical expression has been proposed. The resulting values of the nucleation parameters N0, ANx and A were shown to be meaningful and internally consistent.
