Abstract

The paper presents on the improved soft switching buck converter in terms of the zero voltage switching (ZVS) and zero current switching (ZCS) which reduces mainly switching power losses of the main semiconductor compared with the hard switching skill over a wide range of the load variations. The soft switching with zero current turns on so the lagging leg of the main switch is achieved ZVS during turned off time to improve the performance of the converter. Thus, it is far better to use power MOSFET as a very high switching frequency power device due to the natural voltage fed nature of the buck converters so overall efficiency be significant with the proper designing of the power inductor, selection of the active and passive power devices and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) of the operation.
