Abstract

Abstract A 9 pseudo component compositional simulation study (Quarter of a full field radial) for a very mildly dipping, slightiy undersaturated, Middle East carbonate reservoir, has indicated down-dip gas injection yields recovery benefits, at relatively higher sustainable rates as supplemental to a water injection scheme or as a stand alone strategy. Common to all scenarios was crestal gas injection at the only existing gas injector. Since miscibility is not maintained throughout in the reservoir, the impact of sweep on oil recovery is dominant again. Interfacial tension (EFT), as a miscibility indicator was used to help characterize the run results. Improved reservoir characterization models are a pre-requisite for optimization of miscible and near-miscible Gas injection processes.
