Abstract

This paper presents a novel mutual identity authentication and key update scheme which can be applied in the Internet of Things (IOT) with Multi-hop relay devices in the middle link. In the networks of IOT, terminal nodes possess limited computation abilities, and information collected flows to the platform through relay devices. So by utilizing the relay devices, the scheme not only imposes light computation and communication costs on terminal nodes, improves the algorithm complexity, but also authenticates the relay devices indirectly and recessively, thus protecting the terminal nodes and relay devices from being cracked. The modified elliptic mapping scheme is introduced in the authentication and key update mechanisms. Through security analysis, it is shown that the scheme is secure, feasible and highly effective compared with the Public Key Cryptosystem for the typical Multi-Hop Relay networks.
