Abstract

Model-free predictive current control (MFPCC) is emerging as a powerful strategy to control voltage source inverters (VSIs) without the knowledge of the system parameters. However, the output current performance may be deteriorated significantly due to the stagnant current variation update in the conventional MFPCC. To improve the output current performance, this paper proposes a simple MFPCC strategy to keep updated all current variations of the VSI. Each current variation is firstly separated into two parts, and then each part is updated frequently using the two most recent measured current variations and their applied voltage vectors, respectively. Because the stagnant current variation update is effectively reduced in the proposed method, the output current performance with the proposed method is improved significantly compared to that with the conventional MFPCC. Experimental results are given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed MFPCC.
