Abstract

New α-acyl amino amides 1-7 have been prepared via Ugi four component condensation reaction in room temperature ionic liquid (bmim)BF4 in high yields and purity with good recyclability of the ionic liquid used. Various imidazole based ionic liquids were tried for this reaction and reaction conditions optimized for each of them. Several new Ugi adducts have been synthesized using the developed methodology on various substrates with easy recovery of the desired product and ionic liquid. The methodology was further extended to the synthesis of a small library of supported Ugi adducts in (bmim)BF4.
