Abstract

Extracellular recording of action potentials from single cultured neuroblastome and heart cells has been achieved without cumbersome shields and with a 10:1 signal/noise ratio. The method involves a low-impedance metal microelectrode that records differentially between a central platinum wire and a surrounding silver tube.
