Abstract
One of the major challenges for wireless network design is the efficient mobility management Mobile IP is a commonly accepted protocol to realize the global mobility. Mobile IP networks suffer high binding update traffic from high rates of handoffs and long packet delivery delay from the large distance to the home network. In this paper, we introduce a new seamless handoff solution for macro-mobility management to reduce the binding update and packet delivery delay and traffic. The mechanism separates mobility management in two levels, and sets a buffer in the previous mobility anchor point (MAP). In contrast with the normal HMIP protocol, the method can largely reduce the handoff latency and packets loss.
