Abstract

Abstract A constant current-potential procedure was used in electrochemical pretreatment of carbon fiber electrodes. The improving procedure made these electrodes possess better analytical characteristics in vivo voltammetry. In the rat striatum, there were three well-defined peaks obtained from treated electrodes at 20, 180 and 350 mV, which reflected the oxidation of AA, DOPAC and 5-HIAA. The concentrations of AA, DOPAC and 5-HIAA were found to be 168, 21.4 and 3.3 μM in rat brain respectively. The effect of reserpine on DOPAC and 5-HIAA was demonstrated. Also, a simple method for fabrication of glass capillary microelectrodes was described.
