Abstract

An improved dynamic relaxation method is used to solve the set of simultaneous equations resulting from the application of finite element method for plate bending problems. Different weights are used as multiplying factors for each mass ( m) and damping factor ( C) in each equation representing one of the three degrees of freedom at each node. The optimum values of these weights are obtained for different cases of the bending of cantilever plates stiffened with edge beams with different sizes of stiffening edge beams.
