Abstract

A simple co-precipitation method has been used for the synthesis of single phase of three bismuth ferrites (BiFeO3, Bi25FeO40, Bi2Fe4O9). In this method the pH of the solutions kept unchanged during the co-precipitation process and single phase of three bismuth ferrites were obtained. Phase analysis results show that buffer solutions play an important role in the preparation of single phase of bismuth ferrites. Morphology analysis results show that the products are micron-sized. The decolorization ratio of methyl orange by the bismuth ferrites has reached from 65% to 90% under UV light irradiation for 2 h.
