Abstract

It has been discovered that apart from serving as a source of illumination, LEDs also have the potential to provide carrier waves within the visible light section of the electromagnetic spectrum, and thus boost the development of Visible Light Communication (VLC), a form of wireless communication. In our research project, using Raspberry Pi and photosensitive modules, we were able to construct a simplified model of VLC — the high-frequency blinking of the LED on the transmission end transmits binary codes and the photosensitive diode on the receiving end detects the aforementioned blinking. Therefore, we were able to achieve the transmission of texts, especially, Chinese characters, through VLC. In other words, a one-way communication line between two Raspberry Pis.
