Abstract

This key is intended to guide readers to the identity of some 150 of the commonest Upper Carboniferous plant fossils preserved as compressions. Each of these species is illustrated by a line drawing emphasising those features by which it may be distinguished from comparable forms. A table shows the stratigraphic range and relative abundance of these plants through the British Coal Measures.
