An Hybrid Edge Algorithm for Vehicle License Plate Detection

Abstract

Automatic Number Plate Recognition System provides a solution for traffic jam in Toll Tax, used by Traffic police and also for security purpose. The main purpose of Automatic Number Plate Recognition System is to control the traffic management system. Number plate detecting system uses different techniques Like (R-CNN) Convolution Neural Network, Image Processing, Edge detection technique and Object Character Recognition Technology. Image Processing is done with the help of an Open cv python module in which all the unwanted data is cleared from the image Edge detection done with the help of algorithm of machine learning such as Haar cascade classifier, and Canny edge detection algorithm. Object Character Recognition Technology is used to character Recognization from the image that is done with the help of Pytessract module provided by python. The proposed algorithm yields a MSE and PSNR value that is optimal considering the tradeoff between performance and resource strain.
