Abstract

The traditional Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) frequency offset estimation algorithm is difficult to take account of the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), estimation range and estimation accuracy. To solve this problem, an FFT frequency offset estimation algorithm based on interpolation and binary search is proposed in this paper. The unbiased estimation of frequency offset can be obtained by one interpolation. Interpolation is followed by binary search to improve the estimation accuracy of frequency points near the spectral line. In practical application, interpolation algorithm can be used for coarse frequency offset estimation, and then binary search can be used to finish fine frequency offset estimation. This algorithm is suitable for carrier recovery in deep space communication under the condition of higher carrier precision requirements.
