Abstract

In order to predict the perforation life of lap joints in automotive panels, perforation corrosion was analysed using extreme–value statistics under various corrosive environments including laboratory cyclic tests (CCT) and in the field itself. It was found that the two parameters of Gumbel's distribution of maximum values of perforation corrosion depth are closely related to the corrosion form and environmental corrosive factors.
